Nighttime Skincare Routine

Whether you’re a skincare enthusiast or just getting started, one of the most important steps in your skincare routine is your nighttime skin care routine. During the day, your skin is exposed to pollutants and harsh sunlight which can take a toll on its health. At night, you have the chance to provide some much-needed TLC for your skin and help it look and feel its best. Here’s how to create an effective nighttime skin care routine.

Cleanse

The first step in any good skin care routine should always be cleansing. Cleansing helps remove dirt, oil, makeup, and other impurities that accumulate throughout the day. When cleansing at night, use a gentle cleanser that won’t dry out your skin or strip it of its natural oils. For those with sensitive skin, opt for a gentle cleanser that won't irritate the skin or cause breakouts.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating is an important step in any skin care routine as it helps remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin allowing better absorption of products used later on in the routine. Try using a gentle exfoliator like a scrub or chemical exfoliant such as lactic acid or salicylic acid once or twice a week depending on your skin type and sensitivity level. Always remember to be gentle when exfoliating as over-exfoliating can cause damage to your delicate facial tissues.

Hydrate

Hydration is key when it comes to maintaining healthy looking and feeling skin! After cleansing and exfoliating, apply an essence or serum containing hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid which helps draw moisture into your skin cells keeping them plump and hydrated all day (or night) long! Follow up with a moisturizer that contains ingredients specifically tailored to meet your skins needs such as ceramides for dryness or niacinamide for redness. Finish off with an eye cream if needed to keep delicate under-eye areas hydrated and smooth throughout the night.

Good Night!

Creating an effective nighttime skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated – just stick to these three simple steps every night before bed! Cleansing will help remove dirt, oil, and bacteria from the surface of your face; exfoliating will help remove deadskin cells; and finally hydrating will help keep your face plump and hydrated all day (or night!) long! With this simple three-step process you'll be sure to wake up with glowing, healthy looking skin each morning!
